Celebratory Sangria

CELEBRATION LIBATIONS

A seasonal sipper for your holiday soirees

There’s no better way to get into the holiday spirit than with a festive and refreshing drink. This holiday sangria includes seasonal flavours and a playful garnish that will give your guests a reason to raise a glass at your next fete.

INGREDIENTS

  • 2 oranges, thinly sliced
  • 1 bottle dry white wine
  • ½ cup white grape juice
  • ½ cup sugar
  • 1 cup fresh cranberries
  • 3 sprigs of fresh rosemary, plus extra for garnish

DIRECTIONS

  1. In a small saucepan over medium high heat, combine white grape juice, ¼ cup sugar and 1 cup of wine, bringing to a gentle boil.
  2. Add the cranberries and cook for 30 seconds until they begin to pop. Remove the syrup from the heat.
  3. Strain the cranberries, reserving the wine syrup.
  4. In a pitcher, combine the remaining wine, blanched cranberries, orange slices and rosemary. Chill in the refrigerator for at least an hour.
  5. Meanwhile, place the remaining ¼ cup sugar in a small shallow dish. Dip the rosemary meant for the garnish into the wine syrup, then into the sugar, covering the rosemary until it has a “snow covered” effect. Set aside.
  6. Once the sangria has chilled in the fridge, add the remaining cooled wine syrup.
  7. Pour sangria and garnish with the sugared rosemary.

Cheers!
