So, what can you expect from the new Leon’s in Coquitlam? Lots – and we found out everything you need to know.

Where is the Leon’s in Coquitlam?

If you’re near Port Coquitlam, Port Moody, Westminster, or the communities in between, come and check out the new store. You won’t miss it, driving along United Boulevard. Situated in Coquitlam’s furniture alley, it is in the same plaza as Lee Valley Tools. Just type “1395 United Boulevard” into your GPS.

Go anytime, but make sure you visit on this day

If you are planning on visiting the new store, go on August 8, 2019. The double eight digits make it a lucky day (and it was an especially lucky day in 2008). But it’s also the Grand Opening day (10 a.m. to 9 p.m.) for Leon’s in Coquitlam.

If you’re eager, and the first to shop, you could be asked to cut the store opening ribbon. The staff of eight plans to greet the morning crowd at the door with a welcoming applause – a tradition at all store openings we’re told.

If you come later in the day, come hungry. The staff is hosting a lunch and afternoon BBQ, with hot dogs, burgers and refreshments!

What else?

The store might be smaller than you’re expecting. Leon’s is known for its Big Box format – in fact, the furniture company pretty much created it in Canada. And the Leon’s in Coquitlam is a fraction of the size.

So, don’t expect to spend an hour or so walking around the store. But do plan to spend some time there – as it sells the same selection as the bigger stores.

How’s that you ask? Stuart McBride, the store’s general manager, tells it best.

“Our new location is being hailed as the ‘tech hub’ and is unlike any other current store Leon’s. At 15,000 square feet, it features a cutting-edge showroom with AR capabilities and an 11-foot video wall, allowing customers to shop the entire Leon’s collection in life-size, even if it’s not on the showroom floor.”

There are also four touchscreen stations that you can browse more selection. Plus, the prices are listed on the appliances with e-tags, so that they can be competitively priced in seconds. (And Leon’s still has it’s 60-Day Price Guarantee).

Gone are the days of waiting in line to purchase, as you’ll be able to pay directly with a Leon’s associate using their tablet. Another very cool detail: the tablets are voice-activated, so you can say your name, address, phone number, etc., instead of filling out payment or delivery forms.

As for the physical space, the layout is similar to other locations. It’s also wheelchair- and stroller-friendly. There are 73 parking spots, so lots of parking, too.

The good stuff

You know to expect a Grand Opening sale – here’s the flyer. Here are our five fave pieces we saw on the showroom floor.

Makes you want to decorate your living room and kitchen, doesn’t it?

Please, do stop by and say hello to Stuart and the team at 1395 United Boulevard.
