The Way to Our Hearts Is Through The Kitchen

Here’s a little secret: if I follow my heart it always leads me to the fridge! Quite frankly, the kitchen is the true heart of our home and where so many memorable moments have happened: my daughter’s first cooking lesson; the art of perfecting scrambled eggs; romantic dish-cleaning dates with my husband (when you’re a parent, it’s where you catch up on your relationship!) and many girls’ nights in. Or, in my case, middle-of-the-day girlfriend dates while our kids play in the next room.

Even if the heart of the home is as small as mine, life still revolves around the kitchen and it seems like during the holiday season the kitchen is even more important. It’s where we bake cookies and decorate the gingerbread house, where we pour the punch and serve our guests the vine, and where we make our DIY from-the pantry gifts!

So to improve the very essence of our everyday lives we decided it was time to revamp our outdated and not-matching-together appliances, and to add open shelving to this small space. Our old dishwasher was white while the range and the fridge where in stainless steel. Every appliance came from a different brand and on top of it, we were missing a range fan. Plus the classical kitchen cupboards just made the space look even smaller than it was.

When I was looking for new kitchen appliances I knew I needed to search out good quality and modern technology that would help our busy family with our everyday lives.

Our new KitchenAid dishwasher has a window with lighted interior and advanced racks so we can now check on the dishes before removing them. You know when you think that your dishes are clean, and in the middle of putting them all back on the shelves you notice they’re actually still dirty? Well, never again! It also features Dynamic Wash Arms that provide complete water coverage. My younger daughter finds it fun to really see how her favourite cup is being washed!

Our new range has a feature that I’ve always dreamt of: a baking drawer. I can finally bake cookies and roast the meat all at once, both at different temperatures. (Seriously I’m as exited as I was when my kids finally slept through the night!) It also has a wireless probe that allows me to read internal food temperatures even when I’m away from the kitchen. And the addition of a working range hood means our kitchen gets much-needed ventilation when cooking but can still maintain a sleek design.

Our new KitchenAid fridge is the ideal solution for small kitchens like mine thanks to its French doors that open with a narrow door swing, similar to a side-by-side refrigerator. The inside features an interior water dispenser and a full-width pantry drawer, giving us much-needed fridge storage space without taking up too much room in our small space.

The new kitchen is ready to take on the load of the Christmas cooking, baking and washing! The open shelves make the space around the window look bigger, and the new dishwasher is now a pretty element of the design that actually matches our other appliances instead of standing out. The range and range hood work perfectly together, and our fridge makes the space feel larger! This heart of the home may be small, but is finally filled with both love and quality!
